Who We Are

A Home for Active Owners

Rains Family Office serves families that think like active owners. Many have built and sold companies, sometimes inherited substantial estates or expanded internationally, and now seek a framework to professionalise decision-making without adopting a large internal institution.

Our Role

Rains Family Office sits between the family and the financial system, translating strategic objectives into investable mandates and then monitoring those mandates across banks and external managers operating in different legal environments. This role calls for technical expertise and sound judgment, along with a willingness to question providers when their actions do not align with the agreed mandate.

What You Can Expect

Our relationships generally develop in stages, allowing us to understand the existing set-up before recommending any significant change.

Orientation

We gather information on existing portfolios, real estate, corporate holdings, leverage, family structure and intergenerational plans. The aim is to understand what is already in place before suggesting any change.

Design

Based on this picture, we design an investment architecture spanning liquidity, public markets, real estate, emerging markets, private transactions and philanthropy. Governance elements such as decision rights and meeting cadence are defined at this stage, along with a practical approach to how information circulates between family members and advisors.

Implementation

Rains Family Office then coordinates banks, managers and advisors to put the agreed structure in place, often consolidating provider relationships and negotiating more appropriate terms before revisiting how accounts are organised.

Ongoing oversight

Over time we refine allocations and respond to new opportunities or emerging risks, adjusting the architecture when family circumstances change, for example after a business sale or a move to a new country.

If your family has reached a scale where ad-hoc decisions are no longer sustainable, our team can outline what a more structured approach would look like in practice.
